The Story of Alcott Manor

Alcott Manor is the brainchild of its founder and director, Alex Osiatynski.

After his secondary education at Dulwich College, London, Alex studied at Oxford University before becoming a teacher in a number of independent schools in the UK and, for a short time, abroad. As well as teaching in the classroom he has conducted choirs and orchestras and made a number of recordings as well as composing music for orchestras, choirs and for the stage.

Over the years Alex has taught the whole range of academic subjects, including languages such as French and Latin, and from 2013 to 2021 he was the Headmaster of Bilton Grange, a leading boarding and day preparatory school in Warwickshire.

In that role he has led academic and boarding provision for children from the UK and across the world, whilst personally preparing many boys for entrance to schools such as Eton College and Harrow School, schools with which he has strong connections.

As well as a Master of Arts from Oxford and a teaching qualification from the Roehampton Institute, Alex also has a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Buckingham University and is a Fellow of both the Institute of Leadership and Management and the Royal Society for the Arts. He is currently the Chairman of the Finance Committee and a Director of IAPS (The Independent Association of Prep Schools). Alex is also a Trustee of the Edyvean Walker David Lindop Charity which awards travel grants to young people in the Rugby area. Alex holds a public appointment as a teacher conduct panellist for the Teacher Regulation Agency and has previously served as the governor of two maintained primary schools.

Alcott Manor harnesses Alex’s experience, expertise, energy, passion and knowledge of the UK and international education sector to create a truly unique and amazing educational opportunity for children.

The premise of the Alcott Manor Education being offered is rooted in a deep-seated belief in the power of education to change the world, one person at a time, in the value of educating the body, mind and soul, and the importance of learning to be part of a community and part of wider society.

Alex is married to Freya, who is a Teaching Assistant and Theatre Educator having previously worked in the professional theatre in a technical capacity; she is also highly experienced in the pastoral care of children in boarding settings, as well as having raised two happy and successful sons who are now at senior school. The family is not complete without Huxley, a charming miniature Schnauzer, who looks forward to having more friends to play with, especially if they tickle his tummy!
